If caught with more than the following alcohol in your system, you will be charged and convicted of drink driving:
35 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath;
80 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood;
107 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of urine.
Expect to receive a minimum 1 year ban. You may also be fined up to £5000 and up to 6 months in jail.
Get caught again and expect to receive a minumum 3 year ban, or possibly your license being revoked altogether.
Failing to give a roadside breath test could result in a fine of £1000 and four penalty points. Refusing to give samples for police analysis after driving, or attempting to drive under the influence of alcohol could leave you being fined up to £5000 and 6 months in jail.
